Sugar Snaps is a lightweight shawl that is perfect for the Melbourne climate. It’s a small accessory, almost more of a neckerchief, and it’s a super quick knit, so you’ll be wearing it in no time! This is a cute accessory to brighten your everyday wardrobe, no matter what season you wear it in.

Sugar Snaps is an asymmetrical shawl with an edge knitted along one short edge of the triangle as you create the shawl. The majority of the shawl is knit in simple stockinette stitch, but the edge pattern comprising 32 rows of lace and twisted stitches brings interest to this elongated accessory, as do the unique shape and construction.

Materials/notions required:
Yarn: 1 skein/100gm fingering weight yarn, approx. 400m (435yds)
Needles: 4mm/US 6 circular needles – cable length is not important (I used my 29” needles)
Notions: 1 stitch marker

Gauge:
20.5 sts x 37 rows over 10cm/4” in stockinette stitch
Gauge is not important for this project as it is not a sized garment; however, yardage may vary if gauge is different to that of the sample.

Finished measurements:
Approx 152cm (60”) x 30cm (12”) after blocking

Important! I am left-handed so the deepest point of my shawl is closer to the right hand side of the finished piece. If you are right-handed and follow the instructions exactly, your shawl’s deepest point with be closer to the left hand side of the finished piece. Please contact me if you would like your shawl to match mine exactly – I am happy to help.

This pattern has been professionally tech-edited and test knit.
